Anderson Beach is very accessible to most of Nashville and makes for a great day trip. There is ample shade, multiple picnic tables, grills, a playground, and a buyoed area for swimming. We found it very clean, both on the sand and in the water. There are loaner life jackets if you need them because the water is not clear, which could be a bit scary for newer swimmers.
Typically, there is an entrance fee of ~$5, but we arrived at 5PM and weren't not charged since the park closes at 6:30PM.
Directions: From downtown Nashville, TN, take I-40 east for 5 miles to exit 219. Turn right on Stewarts Ferry Pike and continue straight on Bell Road for 5 miles. Turn left on Smith Springs Road, then left on Anderson Road. The campground is ahead about 1 mile on the left or continue straight on Anderson Road to access the day use area and shelter.
