Arriving at Ashburn Park you see two playgrounds but soon discover a total of four play structures - the kids were definitely WOWED!

The dinosaur-inspired play area at Ashburn Park is designed for children from 2-5 years old. There are three separate colorful play structures flanked by a cool little fire truck for kids to exercise their imaginations. There are also rocking toys and climbing areas scattered around. There is a triple slide as well as a double slide among several more, and bouncing, balancing, climbing devices. There is even an apparatus that functions like an exercise machine in a gym, strengthening the core, the arms and the legs simultaneously. That is probably the element the kids loved most! There are double tunnels running from one part of the second playground to the other and all three sections of this younger kid play area are visible from a covered pavilion, which is available to rent as well.

The fourth play structure is set aside with a wooded area between and is designed for children ages 5-12. There are a lot of creative climbing apparatuses, as well as a rock wall. There is a small slide as well as a bigger one and a tunnel slide which is medium in height.

There is a little wooded area where some fun and creative kids built a fort of sticks. The playground is on the side of a hill and also on a mulch surface, so not particularly ideal for regular strollers, wheelchairs or people with balance issues.

There is a trail to wander and a swing set that is set apart from the play areas so you don't have to worry about toddlers wandering too close to the swings in motion. There are four baby swings and four regular swings. Unfortunately, no swings designed for all abilities.

There is no fence between the playgrounds and the parking lot, but it's up a hill that would slow down little legs. It is adjacent to the Cedar Lane Elementary School, with its own playground so during non-school hours there are actually FIVE play structures to choose from. Ashburn Park and the Cedar Lane Playground are separated by four basketball half-courts that doubles as a great place to scooter or learn to ride a bike. There is a large field to play on as well.

Restrooms are available.
