We had a blast playing at Baker Park Playground while enjoying time together in downtown Whitefish.

Baker Park offers a great, well-appointed playground for kiddos to get all their sillies out in downtown Whitefish. This park delighted the kids, as after many trips to Whitefish each year, we honestly had no idea there was a playground right downtown and we were thrilled to discover it. Though we ski most days we're visiting Whitefish in Montana, we always take a few recovery days to enjoy other activities and generally head into town to experience the local community on our chosen non-ski days.

I did a quick search for a nearby playground, and up Baker Park popped. It was well worth visiting, and just a very short walk from downtown. The playground offers tons of different climbing structures, tunnels to crawl through, steps, wobbly bridges, you name it. There are slides of different heights, including a side-by-side slide which is always a hit! This playground isn't wimpy in terms of its offerings. My kids would gladly have stayed here for hours.

There is little tree cover here, so be sure to bring plenty of sunblock and water for kiddos to drink at any time of year. I would also advise bringing layers, and comfortable shoes. The shoes are important, as this park sits next to River Trail Park, which is also utterly delightful. But, if you're going to walk down to the river, you'll definitely want comfy shoes. Bring your picnic lunch down to the river after playing here, and watch for ducks that will likely come to say hello!
