There's something for everyone at Bark Social, the newest addition to Bethesda's Pike & Rose.
Though Bark Social seems primarily like a dog park, some families enjoy the space even without bringing a dog of their own!
At Bethesda’s Pike & Rose outdoor shopping center, Bark Social has ample outdoor space to sip beers and/or coffee while your dog roams and socializes. Employees (known as Bark Rangers) are happy to engage and play with the dogs, monitor aggressive behaviors, and even pick up after them! You are expected to watch after your dog but in a more relaxed and casual manner.
Each dog costs $10 for entry, however, humans are always free! It is easiest to register your pet before arriving which includes uploading vaccination records, or you may bring your paperwork to the check-in counter on your first visit. Annual and monthly memberships are also available which includes bonuses like discounts on food and merchandise and use of the facility's dog washing stations.
No outside food or beverage is permitted, so either come hungry & thirsty or eat at one of Pike & Rose’s many restaurants beforehand. Bark Social offers coffee and breakfast items such as pastries and breakfast sandwiches in the morning, which you can enjoy at one of the many outdoor picnic tables (some shaded, some not). In the afternoon you can sip on a beer from the self-service pour taps, wine, or non-alcoholic beverages with lunch items like large pretzels and empanadas. Don’t worry - they have dog-friendly treats and drinks as well, and everything on their menu is non-toxic to animals!
This environment is kid-friendly, and if your little one isn’t one to run around with a bunch of puppies, there is a gated sandpit with tables, chairs, and toys for kids to play in where dogs are not allowed. No more than two kids per adult and no kids are permitted after 6 PM to ensure safety.
Weekday mornings are a great time to let your dog and kids make the most of Bark Social, as it is less crowded and Bark Rangers are more available to monitor. It gets pretty crowded on the weekends, and sometimes there is a line to check-in.
If you need a new place to bring the whole family, consider Bark Social at Pike & Rose!
