Bell Roth is a cute water-themed neighborhood playground

I can't tell you the number of times I've driven by this park and not realized there was a great playground toward the back! Located near 85th & Pecos, you have a perfect view of Water World, and can even hear the excited screams coming from the southeast side. There is a small parking lot and then a short walk to get to the actual playground, but along the way you'll see many picnic tables, large green space, two sand volleyball nets and a sandbox.

The playground at Bell Roth Park has a subtle water theme with its green and blue colors, "Sounds of the Water" activity panel, and wavy walking bridge. There are wood chips throughout the play area and the closest restroom option we found was a portable near the sand volleyball courts.

My six year old loved the string of elements leading to the play structure. There was a circular spinning bar overhead which led to rings and finished with traditional monkey bars. My 10 year old was a big fan of the steep slides (one takes quite a turn!) and the swings. For those that like climbing best, there are multiple climbing walls, non-traditional ladders and a plastic rock formation. Possibly the best feature of the playground...it has shade! Large trees provide cover over the east side of the play structure which is a welcome surprise on these hot summer days.

Additional tip: There is a new playground (August 2021) within a block of Bell Roth Park called Sky Park (950 W 88th Ave, Thornton, CO). It isn't listed on Google Maps yet so you'll need to use the address to find it. Sky Park is wonderful because of its long zipline, huge rope climbing structures and enclosed turf soccer field! It is definitely worth the short drive to visit both playgrounds on the same day.
