A pedestrian footbridge leads to the enchanted Belle Isle.

The excitement starts when you step foot on the hanging pedestrian bridge. The pedestrian bridge is the only way to access this island, creating an added adventure element!

This 54-acre island in the city of Richmond is a true gem. Large flat rocks surround the island that you can walk on but beware the Hollywood Rapids can be strong and are not to be toyed with.

Belle Isle is full of wooded trails, mountain biking trails, and historical sites, wheelchair-accessible, fishing at the quarry pond, and a granite wall for rock climbing. Many adventures all in one place.

A great feature of Belle Isle is they have their own parking lot! Major win for parents and caretakers to easily unload and load children. The parking lot is about .2 miles to the start of the pedestrian bridge. The pedestrian bridge and island entrance is stroller, bike, and wheelchair accessible.

Insider Tip: Unlimited time is your friend to explore both Brown’s Island & Belle Isle. They are within walking distance of each other.
