Belle View Elementary School is home to a great playground, with a separate section for your little ones!

Mostly hidden behind the school building, Belle View Elementary School is much larger than it appears from the road. Its privacy makes it feel extra safe, with the area for little ones between 2 and 5 nestled inside its own gated area. There is a small set of regular swings in there as well if you want to keep the slightly older ones entertained but still close while the little ones play. The parking lot is separated from the play area by a fenced-in basketball court area and since it is down below the lot you must take either stairs or a ramp to access it. From there you walk on a path alongside a small field where kids can run and play, so you have a real sense of safety if you happen to have runners.

The main play structures are large and include a large climbing wall type toy, as well as three primary towers connected by a variety of bridges. There are multiple slides, including a side by side slide for kids that enjoy racing down. There is a long row of swings inside the primary play area, and two are for all abilities.

There is also a wonderful stage area with seating for the little performers in your group! Small picnic tables are on the edges of the small field, and there are multiple benches above the playground area where you can sit and enjoy a snack.

Mount Vernon District Park's hiking trails can be accessed directly across Fort Hunt Road if you don't want to get back in your car, and the Martha Washington Library entrance is also right across from the parking lot at Belle View Elementary where you will find bathrooms.
