Berkeley Rose Garden is a great addition to an already fun family outing at Codornices Park

With all of the flowers in full bloom, it was no question that we absolutely needed to see the Berkeley Rose Garden after playing at Codornices Park right across the street. The park can also be reached via an underground tunnel. The kids loved running around on the many paths that run through this multi-level amphitheater rose display.

The overhead trellis awning at the top level of the amphitheater provides great shade, and the many benches that line the area offer a peaceful spot to rest. Amongst the 250 varieties of roses, a water fountain adds to the serenity of the space. To the other side, there is a hillside grove of redwood, oak, and other trees found in the Bay area. This really is such a beautiful oasis tucked away in the Berkeley Hills.

There were plenty of people enjoying the sun and the flowers but not too many that it felt crowded. The position of the Berkeley Rose Garden offers beautiful views of Berkeley, the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge so be sure to visit on a clear day.

The Rose Garden can be booked for events including weddings.

The entrance is free.

There are bathrooms just outside of the fences.

There is two-hour street parking.

The paths are very steep making the entire Rose Garden not accessible by wheelchair, and potentially difficult with a stroller. The overlook at the top can be enjoyed by people of all abilities due to a convenient access path created by the park.

Jessie relocated to the Bay Area in 2013 to be a high school math teacher and since has gotten married, has two kids, and is now a SAHM, stay/slay at home mom. She enjoys working on her embroidery crafts and taking her kids to local playgrounds and regional nature parks, both of which were activities she became passionate about during the pandemic when she needed an outlet and a way to maintain her mental health. She loves encouraging local families and visitors alike to laugh, play, and explore. There’s so much to see and do so get outside and do it! #amom2kidsandapark
