Big Willow Park Packs a Big Punch!

Big Willow Park is a huge park. Situated right on the main road, you can’t miss it. And you wouldn’t want to! This park has so much to offer. With 95 entire acres of fun here, there is something for everyone. This park includes serval huge athletic fields, a nice playground, connections to trails, trees, and marshes alongside the Minnehaha Creek.

This park has been around for ages. Back in the 1880s, it was the site of St. Alban’s Mill and was actually a stop on the railroad. In the 1960s, the city acquired the land, and it’s been a park ever since. The park is named after a large willow tree on the west side of the marsh. And if you look closely, you can find vestiges of the old railroad spur left behind.

The athletic fields here are top-notch, so it’s quite a busy park for ball games. The playground is also well-equipped, and there’s tons of free parking across several lots. At the playground, you’ll find steps, slides, ladders, and more. The equipment here is quite new, so it’s of great quality. I like that there’s more than one play area for the kiddos, and I love that the parking is close by. I also love that the trails you can connect to here actually connect to neighboring parks and playgrounds, as well.

After enjoying your time here, head down to Munkabeans for a nice cup of joe!
