BitterSweet Cafe is a charming Fort Greene coffee shop with delectable pastries and coffee.  

Just a few steps away from the park, right on DeKalb Avenue, you'll find this super small cafe that primarily caters to take-out (there are a few small tables in the back). Coffee, espresso, tea, and small treats (croissants, muffins) are tasty and great for taking to the park. In addition, they make a few kid-friendly sandwiches, ranging from peanut butter and jelly to cheddar and chutney.

Renee was born in rural Maine and spent her childhood days playing in the woods and tending to her family's farm animals and large garden. She's spent the last 20 years far from her rural roots, living in large cities both in the US and abroad. Her family -- including her two daughters, age 6 and 10 -- just recently located to Brooklyn, New York after spending two years living abroad in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
