A great state park for water activities as well as just a morning or afternoon hike.
Brandywine Creek State Park is on the beautiful Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway. It is a lovely experience driving in this area, taking in the beautiful scenery and often historic architecture. Make sure you stop at the Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library.
Brandywine Creek State Park is the perfect place for canoeing, kayaking, tubing on the river, or hiking. We like the Rocky Run Loop, and it is also ranked number one on AllTrails. If you didn’t check it out first, follow up at Winterthur so the kids can explore the magical fairy setting.
Brandywine Creek State Park only offers primitive camping for youth groups but there are rental homes all around the area for safe overnights, or you can make your way back toward Wilmington. If you didn’t pack a picnic, make time for lunch at historic Buckley's Tavern, or Centreville Cafe along the Byway.
