A convenient destination in Wilmington that is adjacent to the Brandywine Zoo, this park is great for a quick stop or a full day!
Brandywine Park is a beautiful, 178-acre park conveniently located in downtown Wilmington, Delaware. Situated along a one-mile stretch of the Brandywine River, the park was established in 1886 and is the largest urban park in Delaware.
The park boasts a great number of natural as well as man-made features that make it a gem within the downtown Wilmington area. Visitors can enjoy several trails, fountains, statues and also a gazebo. Additionally, the park features a swinging bridge, a beautiful[KR1] rose garden, fabulous playgrounds and even a small zoo! It's a great place for a picnic or a full afternoon of fun!
The park has several parking lots, but we recommend parking in the lot that is between the zoo and the river which can be accessed right after crossing the bridge into the park - just turn right before you get to the zoo. This will place you centrally within the park and allow you to easily explore the grounds.
If you head up the hill directly behind the parking lot, you’ll reach the Brandywine Zoo. Keep walking up the cobblestone road towards 18th street and you can also find a huge playground that is sure to delight kids of all ages. Visitors can access a map online that shows the location of the walking trails and major features of the park.
The parking is all free!
