Butler has a huge community pool with slides and sprinklers!

While the Butler Aquatic Center isn’t huge, it’s a great option for an afternoon of affordable family fun in the sun. The aquatic center features a seven-lane lap pool, a small “lazy river” loop (tubes for floating are provided), a water slide pool with two large water slides, and a children’s play area with water fountains, small slides, and a large wading area. The aquatic center also has concessions, a grassy area and some covered picnic tables. Parents of little ones should note that life jackets are NOT allowed at the pool. Additionally, patrons are not allowed to bring pool noodles or other floatation devices.

In addition to opportunities for “free swim” the aquatic center offers rentals for birthday parties as well as swim lessons. Patrons can choose from three sessions that run Monday-Friday for two weeks. You can choose from 8 different proficiency levels from “water babies” beginning at 6 months all the way up to “Level 6” in which participants can choose from different options including Lifeguard Readiness or Fundamentals of Diving. If you’re already a proficient swimmer but still want to get some exercise in, the pool also hosts water aerobics! The pool also offers special “sensory swim” times for patrons that may be sensitive to the noise level during normal pool hours.

Outside food and drink is not allowed and concession items must be consumed within a designated area. Visitors can choose from a single day pass, a punch card, or a family season pass for admission, all for very reasonable prices!

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
