Butler Municipal Park is home to shaded play structures.

Butler Municipal Park (also known as South Park) is a lovely little park in Butler, Missouri. Visitors will find a variety of play equipment including large and small slides, climbing apparatuses, tunnels, swings, and more. The park features a variety of small pieces of equipment scattered throughout a large, grassy area rather than one large piece of playground equipment. You can be sure that your little ones will be tuckered out after running back and forth between all of the options! One of the huge bonuses at Butler Park is that the equipment was recently covered (the photo precedes this initiative). That means that your little ones will stay nice and cool, even on the sunniest of days!

In addition to the covered play equipment, the park also has many picnic shelters that are perfect for parties or just a quick lunch or snack. Picnic shelters even have grills so you can enjoy a hamburger or hot dog if you plan to make a day of it!

The Butler Aquatic Center is just a stone’s throw away from Butler Park. There you can enjoy swimming laps or go down the giant water slide!

Even though there are no ball fields or courts, there is plenty of open space for enjoying an informal game of soccer or catch. Locals love that the park is usually fairly empty, making it a great place for a toddler to run free! If you’re in need of even more space, continue south past the aquatic center to get to Pioneer Sports Park.  There you’ll find soccer fields, a little league football field and a trail of memories to walk.

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
