Cesar Chavez Park offers a great opportunity for an afternoon hike with beautiful views.

The park has a few hiking trails, including the 1.25-mile Dorothy Stegmann trail around the park’s perimeter that is fully stroller accessible.

Not only does the park offer spectacular views of the three-bay bridges (Richmond, Golden Gate Bridge, and Bay Bridge), Alcatraz, and Angel Island, but also the opportunity to interact with Californian flora and fauna. It is easy to catch different kinds of birds, ground squirrels, and lizards.

It is also a good place for a picnic. It has a few picnic tables, and also a big green area so make sure to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy some snacks after your hike. From there you can admire the city or catch a beautiful sunset. There are plenty of benches too alongside the trails.

The parking is easy to find and completely free. There are a couple of mobile public toilets at the entrance. The park is also dog friendly so make sure to bring your furry friend.

The hike is very easy so it is recommended for every age, and it is especially recommended for new mamas since the trail is completely wheelchair accessible, great for a walk with the stroller to breathe some fresh air. Since it is close to the bay, it is recommended to bring a jacket in case it gets chilly.

The area is also great for biking, Frisbee, and kite flying. Actually, the Annual International Kite Festival in July is here. Park Hours: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM
