The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is three levels of educational fun! With loads of interactive learning and simulations, you could spend all day here if you wanted to. This museum explores space, animals, mummies, gems and rocks, dinosaurs, our bodies, and more! The IMAX theater is a treat for anyone wanting an amazing surround sound experience that won't be forgotten with several movie options that rotate. The special exhibit currently on display is "The Science Behind Pixar," featuring over 50 interactive elements all showing an inside look at the filmmaking process of a Pixar movie. This exhibit is open until April 2019, when it will switch out to a new one. The Planetarium is a fascinating journey that all little astronauts will fall in love with! There are several shows that run throughout the day, but they are all interactive and great for kids. The dome of the planetarium is truly immersive and makes you feel like you are there. This is right behind the Space Odessy exhibit, which features a giant interactive globe, special space mission controls, and even a replica of the Mars rover. Upstairs, you'll find the Prehistoric Journey a favorite for many as you are whisked back in time with giant fossils and replicas of real dinosaurs. Another favorite was the "Expedition Health" exhibit, which teaches all about how our choices affect our bodies. There is even an option to age your face on the computer to look up to 60 years older! Fair warning, this exhibit does have some real organs and body parts on display, so if you are a child has a weak stomach with things of that nature, maybe skip this one! In each permanent exhibit, there is a smaller section made specifically for younger children. This is perfect if you have a little one that needs more entertainment in a smaller space. In every area of the museum, the staff was extremely helpful and great at answering any and all questions. This museum is definitely a fun activity to consider while in Denver.
