Relax and Play in this Lovely Natural Hot Spring near Downtown Steamboat Springs!

We loved Tubing the Yampa River and, at the end of our tubing ride, we ended up at Dr. Rich Weiss Park to enjoy the natural, hot springs!  While we added this adventure on to a fun afternoon on the Yampa River, families can choose to come and park directly by Weiss Park, right near the heart of downtown to enjoy this warm and refreshing hot water, even if you aren't tubing.  On weekends, the hot springs can get crowded with locals and tourists alike enjoying the fun atmosphere, so it may be better to visit on a weekday when things are a bit more mellow and chill.  You'll also hear locals call this area Hippy Dip, as the natural warm water utilized at the Old Town Hot Springs drains into the Yampa River here.  The water where the spring drains in is very shallow and there are small pools that you can sit in.  Young children can easily play seated and safe but given the proximity to the dark, flowing waters of the Yampa, you should keep them supervised at all times.  Also, the water is not terribly hot - it's a nice warm and a great contrast to the cold waters of the Yampa nearby.

To bring: You'll need a swimsuit, towel, grippy water shoes (no flip-flops) as there are wet and slippery rocks.

Note: Even if you aren't here for the hot springs, the park boasts a great view of the Yampa River and it's a nice place to have a snack or lunch and enjoy the beautiful scenery.  There are picnic tables, a nice grassy area, and there is a bridge close by that crosses over the Yampa River.

This Park is right off the Yampa Core Trail so it is easily accessible by bike.
