East Avenue Park and Playground

East Avenue Park, East Avenue, Hayward, CA, USA

playground, hikes

East Avenue has two play structures, a basketball court, bathrooms, a huge grassy area, a picnic set up, an amphitheater with a fire pit, trails, wild animals, and neat trees.

The playground has two structures. One is smaller and nearly the exact same as the small structure with slide, race track (don't forget your Hotwheels!), activities, steps, climbing ladder, and tunnel and a small pipe to send objects from the structure to the ground.
The larger structure is super cool! Although it only has one slide it has lots of fun ways to enter including a rock wall, a rope ladder, a rope tube plus a couple more fun aspects you don’t see at many parks.
The swing set offers the standard swing and bucket swing plus a really awesome circular rope swing. The playground also has a ride-on toy and a super spinner.
After the playground, we ventured up the big grassy hill and saw plenty of picnic bench areas, some single benches, some gopher holes, a deer, some mud, pine cones, and birds. At the top, we went right down the dirt path and discovered the amphitheater! Keep walking and there are a few more picnic areas (we're totally coming back with lunch and dad some weekend!). I checked out the trail map and it looks like these trails can lead all the way to Memorial park!  (Which I will probably never do with kids because it looks like a LOOONNGGGGG trail. The little loop around the park was good enough for us!

There is parking and there is a bathroom.

Look out for the giant turkey that roams the neighborhood!

Jessie relocated to the Bay Area in 2013 to be a high school math teacher and since has gotten married, has two kids, and is now a SAHM, stay/slay at home mom. She enjoys working on her embroidery crafts and taking her kids to local playgrounds and regional nature parks, both of which were activities she became passionate about during the pandemic when she needed an outlet and a way to maintain her mental health. She loves encouraging local families and visitors alike to laugh, play, and explore. There’s so much to see and do so get outside and do it! #amom2kidsandapark
