Gordon E. Oliver Eden Shores Park, Sea Haven Court, Hayward, CA, USA

With just one way in and out of this small community of Eden Glen, this hidden gem doesn't get much traffic.

Golden E. Oliver Eden Shores Park is right along the water so it has great views and lots of chances to see sea birds. Along with two play structures, this park has tennis courts, a basketball court, picnic benches, a huge grassy area, a walking path along the outer loop of the park, and a neat amphitheater seating gazebo that opens to a panoramic view of the bay.

The first play structure has three slides (a spiral and double), steps, ladders, a bridge, a tunnel, a few activities, and some little nooks for when kids need to take a break from all the playing. There is also a spring rocking horse.

The second structure has two slides (a spiral and a double), steps, a variety of ladders, two different monkey bars, a look-out perch, a zip line, a variety of other activities, and more nooks for breaks.

Right next to both play structures is a swing set with both style swings - baby swings and bigger kid swings. The play areas are on a mulch surface.

At the end of the parking lot is a roundabout with a bathroom. The bathroom is a bit far from the playground for a quick run but it is there nonetheless.

This park enables parents and caregivers to stand in one place and see their kids whether they are on the same structure or playing on different structures. There are also a few benches that are sheltered in the shade of a few trees that are scattered around the area adjacent to the playground.

Jessie relocated to the Bay Area in 2013 to be a high school math teacher and since has gotten married, has two kids, and is now a SAHM, stay/slay at home mom. She enjoys working on her embroidery crafts and taking her kids to local playgrounds and regional nature parks, both of which were activities she became passionate about during the pandemic when she needed an outlet and a way to maintain her mental health. She loves encouraging local families and visitors alike to laugh, play, and explore. There’s so much to see and do so get outside and do it! #amom2kidsandapark
