Elk Ridge Park has a splash Park, Waterfall, Fitness Court and Playground!
You often hear about Castle Rock, but we discovered this gem of a playground in Castle Pines! The first thing we noticed near the parking lot was a large rock starting a scavenger hunt along the walking trails. According to the park design team at Design Concepts, "Throughout the park, there are interpretive wayfinding signs that lead visitors on a Colorado-themed scavenger hunt. Riddles, symbols, and rhymes lead from one clue to another and reveal Colorado history."
The waterfall and splash pad fountains make Elk Ridge Park the perfect destination on a hot day. As with most splash pads, it is a popular place so I'd recommend getting there before 10 AM to get a spot to sit nearby before it gets too crowded. Plan ahead for the water fun by wearing swimwear and packing sunscreen.
There are play areas in multiple parts of the park so walk around to find the best equipment for your kids' ages. We noticed a sandbox area set apart near the pedestrian bridge. The style throughout the playground gives a Mesa Verde feel and there are inscriptions like you've come across stone artifacts. Among the play equipment are rope course-like obstacles, spinners, balance spots and more. There is also a maze painted on the ground and a hillside slide to enjoy.
Your family will love the activities offered at Elk Ridge Park. There is a beautiful football field with turf, pavilions to rent, and an expansive Fitness Court farther up the hill. A bathroom building is available and portable options too.
Extra Bonus: There is so much to see in Castle Pines and Castle Rock! If you're in the area for a short while, I would highly recommend a trip to Deputy Zach S Parrish Memorial Park. Built in honor of a fallen Colorado State Patrol officer, the playground includes massive play equipment with ninja-type obstacles high overhead. It is worth spending a couple of hours in the area to make this trip happen!
