Frederik Meijer Gardens is a must-see botanical garden that is perfect for the whole family.

Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is a 158-acre botanical garden with beautiful gardens, greenhouses, sculpture collections, art exhibits, and plenty of fun and interactive features for kids. You could spend all day here and still not see everything this place has to offer. They have plants and exhibits that encompass species from multiple climates and over five continents. Here you can find the only U.S. publicly displayed collection of carnivorous plants like the venus fly trap.

Kids will have just as much fun as adults, not to mention they will have a very educational experience. Some of the attractions for kids are the Storytelling Garden, Great Lakes Garden, and David & Carol Van Andel Children’s Gallery. The Children’s Gallery is the activity that your kids will probably love the most, it is an indoor curiosity garden play space with ten interactive activity stations. The Storytelling garden is a small outer theatre where kids can listen to storytime or put on puppet shows and other creative performances. Great Lakes Garden is a miniature water-filled replica of the Great Lakes that kids can build bridges and launch small boats in.

All of the main paths here are paved and stroller and wheelchair-friendly. You can grab a bite to eat at James & Shirley Balk Café and stop at the gift shop to pick up a souvenir. There is plenty of free parking in their giant parking lot and clean bathrooms scattered around the park. Admission is free for children 2 and under, $4 for children 3-4, $7 for children 5-13, $11 for students with a student ID, $14.50 for people 14-64, and $11 for people 65 and older. They also have memberships available for those who want to keep coming back.
