Hamilton Heights may be a smaller park, but it still offers plenty of options for active families.
We really enjoyed this small park on the north side of Kansas City. The playground equipment was quite modest, but even so, the kids found plenty of ways to get their bodies moving and to have a good time. There are a few sets of monkey bars, slides, and different ways to climb up. There's also an ADA accessible fishing pier at this park, so don't forget those fishing poles! Our kids love to fish, so this really makes this particular park a big win for our littles. We could spend all day just fishing here in the warmer months.
This park also features a nice little walking trail. Though the Hamilton Heights Loop Trail clocks in at only .38 mile, it could easily be used for more exercise by completing the loop multiple times. That's one thing I really love about loop trails, especially shorter ones, you're never far from your car should a meltdown arise, and you can always easily increase your mileage. Such a great option for busy parents and caregivers!
There is a great covered shelter/pavilion here that can be rented for your family. They do require a 4-hour minimum in order to reserve this picnic area, but it's a great option for families. Additionally, there is a basketball court on-site, too, so there is the option for some time playing together on the court, as well.
One of my personal favorite parts of this park was the big tic-tac-toe game built into the playground. I enjoyed some time with just my little one playing this together, and we laughed and really enjoyed each other. It was a very sweet moment.
After exploring Hamilton Heights Park, cruise over to Kate's Kitchen for some out-of-this-world breakfast or lunch together. Or, take a page from my playbook and head to Kate's first, and bring your brunch to the park!
