Appreciate the amazing art collection at High Museum of Art, the south’s leading art museum!
Boasting an impressive permanent collection that includes upwards of 15,000 works, with genres including African art, American art, decorative art and design, European art, folk and self-taught art, modern and contemporary art, and photography. In short, the High has got everything and rivals any art museum in an enormous city! An unparalleled collection of special exhibitions rotate frequently through the High Museum and other museums worldwide, including the Louvre. You can marvel at priceless works from Monet, Renoir, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Warhol, just to name a few! Martini and jazz nights are often hosted and are a great escape if you have a babysitter.
If it’s not date night, head to the bottom floor and make a beeline to the Greene Family Learning Gallery to play and connect with hands on activities. Designed to be inclusive for all children, jaws will drop…this area will inspire wonder! Year-round, there are free Toddler Times every week with the price of admission; typically on Thursdays. Activities aimed to dazzle the wobbly set explore a new theme each month, with related artworks, art projects, stories, and tours. If you have a budding artist in your midst who will visit Atlanta during the summer months, The High’s Art Camps are bar none! First through 8th graders will learn color, texture, and shape. Everything from drawing and sketching to exploring European masters is available. These camps fill up quickly and are highly sought out. Be sure to check the website for dates and costs.
