Hobby Hill is an absolutely gorgeous park and playground for an entire day of family fun!
When we pulled up here, I immediately knew this would be one of my very favorite parks in KC, and I was right. It also turned out to be one of the kids' favorites, too, though for slightly different reasons than my own.
When we first pulled up, we were on the nature side, and my eyes nearly jumped out of my head as I saw a storybook entrance to a woodsy winter wonderland. Kansas City had just gotten several inches of fresh snow, and there was a huge, beautiful nature area in a heavily wooded area. I could hear the birds singing really loudly, and we watched them for quite a while as they sang and flew from branch to branch. This portion of the park has gorgeous wooded walking/hiking trails, as well as an 18 hole disc golf course. The park itself totals over 28 acres of nature fun.
After we did a little hiking in the woods, we headed over to the other entrance and found a huge, gorgeous playground full of top-of-the-line, brand new equipment. The kids nearly jumped out of the car! It had literally every new type of playground equipment we've seen at the newest playgrounds....the spinning "trees" as the girls call them, a seated zip line, huge climbing trees with tons of ropes to maneuver, swings, awesome slides, you name it. It also had a giant metal slide from the top of a huge rope-laden climbing structure. It was seriously the biggest slide I think I've ever seen at a playground, and the kids were entranced by this! It also had a cute little play treehouse, which was a big hit. The seated zipline was one of the girls' favorite amenities here. Then, leading away from the playground portion and back into the nature area, there was a cute little bridge.
We had a blast spending time together here as a family and highly recommend a visit here. After enjoying all this park has to offer, head to The Corner Cafe for some wonderful eats!
