John Lee Pratt Memorial Park is a spacious park and playground near downtown Fredericksburg that has something for everyone.

This park is located near Historic Falmouth and adjacent to Chatham Manor. This park has 16+ acres of playable grass surface. The perfect spot to kick around a soccer ball or run to your heart’s content. The playground is shaded and has a couple of benches next to it. John Lee Pratt Park is also a great location to play some frisbee-golf. It boasts an 18-hole course that meanders through the woods along the playing field.

If you’re into basketball, there are a couple of basketball courts and a really fun Bankshot basketball court. Bankshot basketball is often described as mini-golf but with a basketball. Players go from one station to the next. Depending on where you shoot, you get a different number of points. My kids had so much fun practicing their basketball skills on this unique court. If basketball isn’t your thing, there are 4 tennis/pickleball courts and a baseball diamond. You can also try playing gaga ball in their gaga ball pit. Gaga ball is similar to dodgeball. If you’re looking for exercise, there’s a 1.1-mile walking/biking trail that goes around the field. It’s partially paved with gravel in other spots. This 2-way trail connects with the Belmont-Ferry Farm Trail. We usually bring scooters to follow this trail. If you need a spot to rest, there are pavilions available for rental and even a stage that can be rented as well. There’s a restroom facility and even horseshoe pits. If you’re looking for something to eat, Benny Vitali’s in downtown Fredericksburg is only 2-miles away, and historic Carl’s Frozen Custard is just under 2-miles. John Lee Pratt Memorial Park really is a one-stop place for fun.
