This gorgeous park offers a beautiful and interesting hike, right in the heart of Estes Park.

We really, really loved this nature area. I was so glad that we discovered this beautiful area while visiting Estes Park. This was one of our favorite places we visited while in Colorado. It has so much to offer, and it's such a wonderful, family-friendly outdoor space to visit. This space sits right in the heart of the city of Estes Park, the 'Gateway' to Rocky Mountain National Park. There's plenty of free parking available in the parking lot, and we had no trouble at all finding a space. Though this area offers lovely hiking trails, bikes are not allowed, so be sure to leave your bicycles at home for this outing. Pets are also not allowed, so best to choose a different park if you brought Fido on your travels.

This conservation area is comprised of 20 acres of beautiful wilderness. The trail does head uphill as you follow along, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes that fit well. This is not a stroller-friendly hike, so definitely leave the stroller behind. I also highly recommend bringing plenty of water and snacks on this trail. Though the trail isn't super long, it does take more effort than you expect, because of the steep uphill turn. The loop trail itself is 0.4 miles total, so it really isn't overwhelming, even if you have littles in tow. Definitely be sure to bring your camera along, as the views are amazing.

Not only does Knoll-Willows offer gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains in the distance, but within this park, you'll also find the ruins of a beautiful turn-of-the-century cabin, called the Birch Ruins. The ruins are easy to find and can be spotted atop the 75-foot rocky outcropping near the top of the Knoll-Willows hike. This beautiful, historic site features a walk-through of the historic cabin's ruins and features stunning views of the city below and mountains beyond. See my full post on the happyly app for detailed information on Birch Ruins.

I really highly recommend this hike for anyone visiting Estes Park. It's such a marvelous spot! After enjoying this great hike, head down the street to You Need Pie! for some tasty food!
