Enjoy Teton views and inviting beaches along the entire flat trail at Leigh Lake.

Sleepy, excited, slow, fast; the hike or paddle around Leigh Lake can be whatever you and your kids want it to be. The family will enjoy meandering the entire, mostly flat trail, which travels alongside first String Lake, then Leigh Lake, then Bearpaw Lake, and finally Trapper Lake. Big kids, little kids - if your family loves the outdoors, this special place won't disappoint.

Since it's out and back, you can choose to travel the entire 10-mile trail or stop at the first beach that catches you. You are blessed with Teton views and shade nearly the entire time and, in midsummer at least, the lake is warm and refreshing. We chose to hike for about an hour before stopping to swim and then hung out onshore and sifted through driftwood while we let the sun dry us off. We snorkeled in the clear blue waters and were able to see hundreds of fish. Pro tip: Bring a fishing rod, snorkel, and tubes to maximize fun.

This lake can also be accessed by boat via String Lake and an easy to find portage trail.  The portage should take about 20 minutes. If you choose to camp at one of the stunning riverside sites, permits can be picked up at the Jenny Lake Ranger Station.
