Little FROG Is a Miniature Version of Big Frog, but Far Less Intimidating!

Snuggled in a redwood grove with just one way in and a tall gated enclosure around, it’s a great spot for little ones to explore with an incredible amount of shade.

There are four main elements of this playground. 1. There is a steeple tower with a rope bridge and a short slide down the back. 2. A building with a platform and window holes perfect for imaginative play. 3. Another tower with spiral stairs leading to a lookout deck and a wide slide. 4. And lastly, a ship-styled play area that appears to be sailing right into the sandbox.

The sandbox has a beautiful mosaic wall filled with colorful sea animals. Along the inside of the gate surrounding the playground, there are benches and a small hut built-in. Trickled through the play area are community donated toys, including ride-on trikes, play kitchens, slides, and activity tables.

Outside of the gate is a small dry creek landscape with a dirt path and benches that are great to sit and relax on while your kids are playing inside.

We came here with friends, and it was great to sit outside of the gate and get some adult time in, while we could see our kids safely inside.

There are no bathrooms at this park and it is street parking only.

It’s about an 8 min walk to Big Frog, a larger version of this wooden playground, along the Rockridge - Temescal green belt. Just a half-block up the Greenbelt trail (the sidewalk) is a nice smaller-sized grassy space with benches.

Jessie relocated to the Bay Area in 2013 to be a high school math teacher and since has gotten married, has two kids, and is now a SAHM, stay/slay at home mom. She enjoys working on her embroidery crafts and taking her kids to local playgrounds and regional nature parks, both of which were activities she became passionate about during the pandemic when she needed an outlet and a way to maintain her mental health. She loves encouraging local families and visitors alike to laugh, play, and explore. There’s so much to see and do so get outside and do it! #amom2kidsandapark
