Play at this Riverside Park and Playground Located Close to Town!

Located at the end of town, along the Yampa river and Yampa Core Trail, you’ll find a nice playground and green space with both baby and big kid swings, picnic tables, slides, and space to explore for babies and bigger kids. There’s also a shaded pavilion area and white, stone public art structures along the paved walking/bike path (which seem to double as big kid climbing structures).  Picnic tables and fire pits are available too.  There are a couple of accessible trees near the playground that my kids really enjoyed climbing in.

The current structure is 25 years old, and the community of Steamboat Springs is actively planning the installation of a completely new, more accessible playground. As of May 2021, they are still asking the community for feedback on the new plan. Other renovation elements are also in the works, including a new gazebo and sidewalk.

Near the riverside, there’s a great rock beach area with space to splash, relax and explore.  Our kids enjoyed watching some kayakers having fun in the rapids.

There is so much you can do here - from biking or scootering to the park, to picnicking in the park, to running, jumping and climbing on all the equipment, to splashing around near the Yampa River, truly the options are limitless.  What a lovely gem!
