Nature Play that is Next Level at McKay Lake!

Have you been to a nature-themed playground? Whether you have or haven’t, I would guess that McKay Lake Nature Park will surpass your expectations. This nature-inspired play area will bring out the smiles in all as you enjoy a day outside with your family.

The giant log structures will be the first things that catch your eyes. There is a large rope bridge between two of the large structures toward the back of the playground that the kids love to climb across. There is a disc-shaped swing hanging nearby and log stumps to jump across.

My daughters love the tunnel area of the park! There are tunnels under hills that you can enter from the sides or from above. Such a fun place to play hide and seek (although if you have little ones, it makes it very easy to lose sight of them too). You’ll also find rope obstacle courses, hillside slides and many more ways to engage with natural elements at McKay Lake Play Area.

This is also the home to two very cool bike parks and a beautiful 1.6 mile walk around McKay Lake! There is a small bike area for young kids with rolling hills and small bridges. There’s also a huge bike park for the adults and older kids! It took my breath away watching everyone go over the big hills – quite a thrill!

Things to Note:

There are portable bathrooms available near the playground parking lot. What there isn’t a lot of…shade. I recommend going early in the day before it gets too hot!

Want to extend your playtime? Cottonwood Park is an adorable playground hidden in Broomfield. It has an exciting play structure, zipline and, best of all, shade! There is also a space-themed playground (complete with a space shuttle) called Quail Crossing Park at 13402 Kalamath St, Westminster, CO 80234.
