This brand new park in St. Paul's Midway neighborhood is part of the city's long-term plan to strengthen the local community.
The huge playground and multiple play structures are built on a hill. The playground is full of vibrant colors that draw anyone's attention toward it. At the top of the hill is a smaller play structure for younger kids as well as a stage for community events, a shaded structure for picnics, and a peace pole. Going down the hill is a slide, net climbing feature and rings that reminded my kids of gymnastics. At the bottom of the hill is a huge play structure that has so many different activities including a challenge course, slides, and much more.
At the top of the hill, there is a large green area that was created for kids to play soccer as well as a basketball court for older kids to be able to join together to play some neighborhood basketball games.
A peace pole is a hand-crafted tall monument that is designated to promote peace in the world. The history of this park was quite interesting to me. There are multiple signs around the playground explaining the background behind building it. Hearing all the work and planning that went into this particular playground was amazing.
I highly recommend checking out this park with your littles and taking the time to read all about the history surrounding this city park. It is quite astonishing. You can feel the sense of community that went into creating this space for the neighborhood.
I'm hoping that your kiddos burn plenty of energy running, climbing and playing to take a nice nap on the way home!
