Millvale Riverside Park in Pittsburgh, PA offers great views and hiking and biking trails!

Millvale Riverside Park is a lovely little park for walking or biking in the small town of Millvale. While the park doesn’t offer amenities like a playground, visitors will find it’s a lovely spot for a hike, bike ride, or picnic.

A portion of the 24 miles Three Rivers Heritage Trail, the 1.7 mile Millvale Riverfront Trail can be accessed from the parking lots located at the park and will take visitors along the Allegheny River all the way to North Shore in downtown Pittsburgh, offering great views along the way. The trail ranges from crushed stone to paved and is fairly flat throughout.

(Because of the crushed stone portion of the path, it may be better suited for proficient bikers, but little ones could always push their bikes for the small sections that are too difficult. If you’re looking for a bike trail that is entirely paved, be sure to check out the rest of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.)

The park also offers access to the water for those wishing to launch their own kayak or canoe. (Although no boat rentals are available on-site, The Millvale Boathouse offers occasional free weekend rowing classes at their indoor facility that is on-site. Call the boathouse to find out more!)

In addition to the trails and views, the park offers a pavilion with picnic tables, making it a perfect spot to have a riverfront picnic before a bike ride. If you’d rather not cook, Iron Born Pizza is also a five-minute drive away. They offer take-out only pizza that can be enjoyed in the park!

If you’re in the area and need some fresh air and lovely views, Millvale Riverfront Park is a great spot to go.

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
