Mount Eden Park and Playground offers play for all on the large playground and the sports facilities.

The long path towards the mansion, lined with trees, really transports you back to the early 1900s and what it may have looked like when Hayward was first founded. This park has everything you need and more! With a playground, picnic areas, a rose garden, soccer field, basketball court, horseshoe pits, and more, it really feels like the possibility are endless.

Along with the soccer and basketball fields/courts, there are other recreation options including tennis, shuffleboard, baseball, and softball. This park is very spread out to allow for all of these recreational options. The playground is fairly large and situated close to a group picnic site (great for birthday parties). There are two slides (short straight and tube spiral), steps, ladders, the tunnel/ramp bridge seen at other Hayward parks, balance beam, climbing wall, and monkey bars. The smaller slide is only accessible via ladder which is a bummer for smaller kids not yet ready for a big slide and not confident in ladder climbing. The play area also has a swing set with standard and bucket swings.

This park has so much grass and if you’re lucky on a hot day you’ll be there when the sprinklers are on. Weaving between the grass is so much paved sidewalk perfect for biking or scooting and totally stroller friendly.

Don’t miss the rose garden and statue in front of the historic house. We loved smelling the beautiful flowers and with the twinkle lights running from light post to light post in the courtyard, I'm sure this makes a beautiful venue for events.

There are two small parking lots off of Tennyson but street parking on Darwin gets you closed to the playground.  There are bathrooms near the ball fields.

Jessie relocated to the Bay Area in 2013 to be a high school math teacher and since has gotten married, has two kids, and is now a SAHM, stay/slay at home mom. She enjoys working on her embroidery crafts and taking her kids to local playgrounds and regional nature parks, both of which were activities she became passionate about during the pandemic when she needed an outlet and a way to maintain her mental health. She loves encouraging local families and visitors alike to laugh, play, and explore. There’s so much to see and do so get outside and do it! #amom2kidsandapark
