With so much to explore, bring lunch and spend the whole afternoon at this Austin park.

Nestled in East-Central Austin and spanning over 30 acres, Mueller Lake Park is a diverse, carefully designed, and scenic park in a thriving mixed-use community, replete with an open-air amphitheater, public art, walking trails (stroller & wheelchair accessible), and a 6.5-acre lake.

Start by taking a stroll around the lake - ducks, geese, pigeons, turtles, and fish can often be spotted. Catch & release fishing is allowed on the lake, and there’s plenty of good shady spots to sit and take in nature. On the Northside of the lake and across the street from The Thinkery children's museum is a whimsical interactive playground perfect for toddlers and school-aged children, as well as water fountains, picnic tables, and public bathrooms with numerous stalls. The public art sculpture “Nessie” glows her blue eyes at the gate of the playground and makes an incredible backdrop for a family photo.

Walk all the way around the lake and you’ll see the Browning Hangar, a remnant of the airport that used to reside here (and the location of the Mueller Farmer Market on Sun. mornings and Wed. evenings). Check out the food trucks here, which include a semi-shaded dining area and some small playground equipment for toddlers on the grass.

Walk along the loop and you'll see the Amphitheater, just waiting for a performance or live concert in the park. Thisis a great spot to picnic during the day while enjoying the lake views, so bring a lunch before heading here to enjoy on the picnic tables.
