Phil Rizzuto Park offers a playground and a small trail!

Phil Rizzuto Park is a ten-acre park in New Jersey that pays homage to the popular New York Yankees shortstop. Kids that love baseball will enjoy the baseball-themed sculptures and information plaques that greet visitors at the entrance!

The first stop if you’ve got kids will likely be the playground. The play area features equipment that is divided by age. The smaller equipment is designed for ages 2-5 while the larger structure is meant for ages 5-12. Kids can take advantage of climbing walls, stepping stools, slides, monkey bars, activity walls and more. There are also a variety of swings including “big kid” swings, baby swings and a flat tire swing! The playground surface is a compressed rubber mulch, so you don’t have to worry about getting wood chips stuck in sandals in the summertime!

If you do visit in the summer, the kids can also take advantage of a sprinkler in the play area. While the sprinkler is no-frills, it does get the job done on a hot day. It’s not an elaborate splash pad or anything like that, it does put out a fairly heavy stream of water, i.e.-your kids will get soaked. If you plan to visit in the summer, it would be wise to bring an extra set of dry clothes for the drive home!

The park has a small trail that is good for taking a family walk or bike riding. There is also a fitness trail so grown-ups or older tweens/teens can get in a more robust workout. For the athletically inclined, the park also has a beautiful soccer field that with artificial turf!

Visitors have access to restrooms on-site. There is also a covered pavilion with picnic tables, in addition to several other picnic tables throughout the park. Families will find trees scattered throughout the park that offer shade in the summer. For those that need to combine work and play, wi-fi is also available.

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
