Ping Tom Park's elaborate Chinese pagodas and riverfront location make it a must-see destination in Chicago!

Just south of downtown Chicago, in Chinatown, is Ping Tom Park. It is ideally situated along the South Branch of the Chicago River. This park offers nature, art, culture, access to the Chicago water taxi, and a stunning view of the Chicago skyline.

You will have to park along South Wentworth Avenue and walk to the park when you arrive. We highly recommend parking close to19th Street and walking to the park via the path at West 19th Street and South Wells Street. There is a train crossing, and if a train comes, it could delay your access to Ping Tom by 5-10 min. However, it's a great diversion if you have a train lover in the family!

Ping Tom Park's accents and structures are all inspired by Chinatown and are fun for photos and to look at. Right after crossing into the park, you will see the platform for the Chicago water taxi and the playground. Walking north, you will find two fun murals under a bridge and a trail that takes you to a bright red bridge and a view of the skyline. Walk along the bridge will give you access to the rest of the trail with stones and long grasses that provide a natural feel with a city view.

Be sure to take your camera and snacks. There are tons of picturesque spots but no vendors for food or drinks. Bathrooms are located in the boathouse but may be closed.

Are you looking to extend the adventure? Follow South Wentworth south to a massive selection of Chinatown restaurants for dim sum and other treats! Ping Tom Park is also a quick trip to the downtown Riverwalk when the water taxi line is open!
