Platte Purchase Park is a sweet playground and recreational area, located on a gorgeous stretch of land just north of Kansas City.

This park and playground is an excellent option for any families traveling to the Kansas City area. Many of the hotels, in addition to the airport, are situated on the north side, so this north suburban park fits the bill. After a day or so exploring the downtown area, escape to the outer edges of town for active recreation. This park features a 1-mile paved trail, picnic shelter, and playground within 140 acres of land, in addition to both baseball and softball fields. The picnic shelter is available to rent through the city of KC.

The playground itself is wonderful, with very modern equipment and lots of choices for kiddos. The equipment is high quality and includes many climbing and sliding structures, as well as both baby and 'big kid' swings. It has a fun tic-tac-toe feature, which our girls loved. I like that this playground offered not only great equipment but a variety of safe, fun, different ways to climb up. I'm beginning to see that all playgrounds are not created equal, and this one was a great family destination.

After enjoying all that Platte Purchase Park has to offer, cruise over to Conrad's Restaurant on the northside, for some tasty burgers.
