Explore The Hidden Gem of a Waterfall and Creek found at Rainbox Falls Woodbury.
Rainbow Falls is a stunner of a waterfall, just 30 minutes east of Murfreesboro and an hour from Nashville. I was shocked that I’d never heard of this specific Rainbow Falls (there are several falls with this same name in the Southeast), given how close it is to Nashville. What I loved about this waterfall hike is that it is only a little over 1.5 miles, hugs a creek the whole way, it’s not crowded and leads to a pristine waterfall.
Highlights:
- The water is crystal clear in the creek – absolutely stunning.
- The walk is in / out and is varied. There are several spots where you will want to stop and enjoy the scenery, small rocky pools, limestone walls.
- It’s not crowded.
- The main attraction, the falls, are gorgeous and have two sections. You can pull yourself up to the middle section and really be immersed in the falls.
What to be prepared for:
- The trail is not well marked. Start near the “no littering sign” where you will park and simply follow the creek until you get to the waterfall.
- Wear waterproof shoes. You will need to cross the same creek several times.
- Limited parking. There was no one there when we went, but you will have to park along side the road. If it were to get crowded, it could be difficult.
- The trail is hard to find. Use the directions below.
To find it….Google Maps may leave you hanging by typing in the name of the falls, so I recommend finding it with this information: Rainbow Falls, Cannon County TN. Coordinates: (35.8056910, -85.9939260) Parking: just park at the trailhead on the side of the road. There’s room, be mindful.
