A lush, scenic, spacious park in the heart of the Rittenhouse neighborhood.
Rittenhouse Square Park is located at 18th and Walnut Street in Philadelphia. Rittenhouse Square Park is in the heart of the Rittenhouse neighborhood, bustling with restaurants, coffee shops and a wide range of shopping. Rittenhouse is one of five original squares planned by city founder William Penn in the late 17th century
The park is a lovely oasis with lots of green for kids to run and play. We like to bring sidewalk chalk, balls, bubbles and a picnic blanket. Head to the Goat sculpture if you have small kids, and be prepared to make some new friends while climbing the Goat and sharing sidewalk chalk. There are many sculptures, a gorgeous fountain, benches, open areas for lounging on the grass. There are tons of restaurant options surrounding the park. We love to either bring our lunch or get cheeses/snacks from DiBruno Bros (one block up at 18th and Chestnut) or vegan wraps from HipCityVeg and enjoy on a picnic blanket.
Each Saturday morning there is a farmers market with a range of vendors from fresh flowers, cheeses, bakery items and specialty local goods. We also love learning more about Philadelphia’s history through “Museum without Walls.” Throughout the park near artifacts and sculptures, you will notice small signs with a phone number and a code to dial in on your phone. If you're looking for additional children's activities, directly across the street is the free library with a robust children's section downstairs.
