Kids Old and Young Have Fun at Rocky Run, A Great Park in Arlington, Virginia

This Courthouse neighborhood playground offers separate areas for older and younger children, accompanied by an impressive athletic facility with a synthetic field and multiple basketball courts. A covered picnic area is in the heart of the playground area, right next to well-maintained restrooms.

A massive jungle gym and climbing area capped with a very cool slide for older children immediately catch the eye right off the bat. There is a “tree house” like space at the top and an extensive webbing of climbing nets around the base. One of them is kind of like a tarp with hand and foot holds all the way up. Another climbing structure to build strength and balance is adjacent. There is a very high tunnel slide coming down from the top of the climbing area and tree house. Under the larger play structure is a turf surface, though that is surrounded by a mulch area. This area is really for bigger kids, who will enjoy the challenge. The adjacent toddler area is also well equipped, however and boasts a sandbox with running water during the summer months. You will need to keep a keen eye on little ones in the main part of the playground because adventurous climbers could use a spot from mom or dad.

There are various areas to sit and watch your kiddos from various vantage points.

If you're hungry before or after playing, two of our favorite spots Silver Diner and Cava, are a quick drive away!
