Ross Park is a Compact Park with a Playground for Littler Kids and Ball Fields and a Hoop for Bigger Kids.

What I loved about Ross Park Playground and Ball Fields is that I could sit in the shade in the northeast corner of the park and watch my two-year-old play in the sandbox, equipped with a kid-operated digger arm and various trucks, and watch my five-year-old sprint from the baseball field to the climbing structure in the playground. It is a compact park with good lines of sight.

They packed a lot of fun into a small space at Ross Park. There are two playground areas. The one aimed at smaller kids has a slide, climbing features, and a bridge. The one for bigger kids is geared more towards climbing with a lot of ropes, hoops, and bars. Between those areas are four swings (two for bigger kids, one for little kids, and one accessible). A paved loop around the play area would be good for little bikes and scooters and there’s a grass field if you want to fly a kite or plane. Bring a basketball if you want to shoot hoops (only one hoop, so no pickup games). Bathrooms were clean and there’s a shelter house available for rental.

Tips:

  • Need a spot for a birthday party or other event? The Ross Playfield Shelter House is available for rental. The Shelter House has large, roll-up doors that open onto the playground. Check the website for information and any Covid restrictions.
  • A five-minute walk west is Big Mario’s Pizza, selling New York-style pizza by the slice. The slices are huge and they will cut them in half for kids to split!
