Fun for the whole family at Sandstone Ranch!
The City of Longmont has named the play area at Sandstone Ranch Park the "Adventure Playground" and it lives up to the name. Spread over a large area you will find activities for kids of all ages and abilities, all with an agriculture and aquatic theme. The most iconic part of the playground is the toddler play area with its large red silo, teepee, farm animals and playhouse.
Sandstone Ranch Park's playground also has a sandbox and nearby aquatic statues including a frog, fish and turtle. The more "traditional" playground has a treehouse-type structure with a tall, spiral slide and many climbing options. The entire playground is a combination of rubber surfacing, wood chips and sand.
There is also a splash pad at Sandstone Ranch Park! It is open seasonally from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily, Memorial Day through Labor Day. On a nice day, you can enjoy a nice walk or bike ride along the 0.7-mile loop or take a longer trip along the St Vrain Greenway.
The skate park is large and additional sports fields are available, including baseball fields, sand volleyball courts, and soccer fields. Restrooms are available at a pavilion next to the playground and also at two other locations around the park. This is a fantastic spot to meet friends for a picnic and playdate!
Bonus: A small drive from the playground will take you to The Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center. This historic property (that was first homesteaded in 1860) is now a display of life in the 1800s and has educational exhibits. Visit their website here for full details, hours available and group tour information. There are some fantastic buildings to walk around, we even took family pictures in front of the old barn!
