This Awesome Playground Is a Great Stop for Wiggly Kiddos!

If you’re spending the day in Estes Park, but you’re not heading as far as Rocky Mountain National Park, this is a great outdoor alternative. We did visit the National Park most days we were in town, but there were some days when the weather wasn’t great, or the kids just needed a bit of running around before napping or bedtime. This park is a great place to fill in those gaps.

Though it’s right at the edge of town and is easy to find, it feels like you’re out in the country. The views from this park are fantastic! It is an open area, and you are up a bit in elevation here, so I highly recommend sunblock, hats, and layers of clothing. This can be a windy spot, and there isn’t a ton of tree cover, so be mindful of that.

The playground itself is awesome….it has a really unique feature they call a “nature scavenger hunt” and my kids loved this! There’s a guide on the side of the equipment showing each nature item you’re supposed to search for and find, and it was super fun! Hidden along the sides of the different playground pieces are pictures depicting nature items, such as a pinecone, or different animals. The kids wanted to stay to find every single item on the list, so we had a fun time searching together.

The playground equipment is nice and new and the kids had a really good time exploring. There’s also a little free library here, which always excites my kids!

After enjoying lots of playing, searching, and running here, head into downtown Estes Park to Notchtop Bakery for some amazing food!!
