Explore all of Seattle with this amazing monorail transportation through the city's skyline!
This is by far the coolest way to travel within a city. The Seattle Monorail brings you between downtown Seattle and the Space Needle so you can enjoy both. It’s a great thing to bring kids on as an alternative to driving between the two locations. You can buy tickets at the entrance to the train at kiosks with a credit card. The train arrives every ten minutes or so and only stops at the two ends of the track. There are two trains and one always remains in the station for routine maintenance while the other runs. The trains are clean, safe, and wheelchair/stroller accessible. The Monorail travels above the buildings of Seattle, giving you a beautiful city view and you can see the mountains in the distance as well. We recommend calling for accurate hours.
Underneath the Seattle Center stop (where the Space Needle is) you will find a modern playground with lots of space for kids to run around. There are also various shops and food stands as well as the Museum of Pop Culture. Down the street is the educational Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center which is great for older kids. At the downtown Seattle stop (Westlake Center- at 5th avenue and Pine st) you will find so many amazing things to explore. Pike’s Place Market, the Seattle Aquarium, restaurants, green space, shopping, and so much more is within a walking distance from the train stop. Use this skyline transportation on your Seattle visit for a fun and easy way to explore more of the city!
