Shannon Park and Playgrounds

Shannon Park, Shannon Avenue, Dublin, CA, USA

Shannon is home to two playgrounds and a splash pad between them - it’s the perfect park for a hot day.

We checked out this park after one of our days hiking the Martin Canyon Creek Trail in search of the leprechaun doors. It’s so close and a perfect bonus to a hike, especially when the water is on at the splash pad!

The larger playground has three slides (spiral, double, sidewinder), steps, ladders (including a rope tube ladder), climbing walls (rock and rope), a bridge, a tunnel, gymnastics bars, and more! Behind the playground is a raised sandbox with a lot of sand!

The smaller play area has a structure with two slides, ladders, steps and space above and below for play. In this area there is a swing set (bucket only) and a ride on rocking toy.

Between the two play areas is the splash pad, shaded picnic tables, bathrooms, and outside showers plus lots of floor space for chalk art.
Although the splash pad was not full of all the bells and whistles, the kids had fun and enjoyed the cool down on a hot day. The ground isn't typical splash pad flooring but instead more like cement. Water shoes are encouraged to eliminate slipping.

The park has a huge hilly grass area with a picnic area covered by solar panel roof, trails, bridges, a community center, a water fountain (no swimming!), a mosaic wall with all sorts of animals, and a huge metal sculpture.

There is a very large parking lot.

Jessie relocated to the Bay Area in 2013 to be a high school math teacher and since has gotten married, has two kids, and is now a SAHM, stay/slay at home mom. She enjoys working on her embroidery crafts and taking her kids to local playgrounds and regional nature parks, both of which were activities she became passionate about during the pandemic when she needed an outlet and a way to maintain her mental health. She loves encouraging local families and visitors alike to laugh, play, and explore. There’s so much to see and do so get outside and do it! #amom2kidsandapark
