This Park and Trail Are Hidden Gems, Right in the Heart of the SW Metro!

I honestly drive by this place probably every single day, and yet literally never knew it was here. I don't even know how! It's right behind the main road through town, but you'd never know it's here unless you found it on a map ahead of time. I was so happy to finally find Smetana Lake Park!

This park is not the typical park or playground in the area - I would say it's got a bit of everything. If you're looking for a big, huge, complex playground with all the bells and whistles, this is not the place for you. The actual playground itself here is quite minimal. In fact, I didn't even know there was a playground here until we stumbled upon it. Honestly, the kids were elated, though it's a very minimal playground. It basically has a few swings, a few bouncers, and loads of green space. Not to downplay how great this park is - I just think where this park shines is in the paved trail department.

Smetana Lake Park offers great fishing and lake access, including a fishing pier. So, if you and your kiddos like to throw a line in, go ahead and pack those fishing rods and tacklebox. I also recommend bringing bikes if your kiddos are into biking.

The park offers a lovely paved trail that goes around the lake as well. The trail is quite flat, which is also a bonus for littles. It's uncrowded and lovely for biking. Additionally, there's a nice covered pavillion, as well as a nice deck that overlooks the lake.

After enjoying your time at this park, head over to Smith Coffee for a yummy baked treat or hot cocoa.
