A wonderful farm to visit with the whole family just north of Philadelphia.

Every fall for the past few years we have headed to Solebury Orchard, with a variety of grandchildren, to pick apples for our Thanksgiving pies and applesauce.  Solebury Orchard is located in Bucks County, PA north of Philadelphia and very close to Peddler's Village (a lovely little village with shops and restaurants).

Although the orchard is a busy place, the setting offers a sense of peace.  Before climbing onto the tractor driven cart to pick apples, we love to purchase cider and apple cider donuts and enjoy a little picnic. The younger kids love playing on the wooden tractor play structure.

The ride to the apple trees is a bumpy adventure. Once we reach the rows to be picked everyone grabs a bag and away they go. There are strategically placed ladders for climbing to grab those juicy apples, and as we know, most kids love to climb! My tip, restrict apple picking amounts to 12 or so per bag because those apple pounds add up quickly!  The orchard also offers great photo opportunities.

After a quick ride back to the market, we pay for our apples, and possibly a few more apple products, pile into the car and head for home knowing our pies and applesauce will be extra special once again.
