outdoor-adventures, hikes

Whether you need a trip into nature, want a wonderful beginner hike, or just feel like bird watching, head on over to Sutherland Heights!

With 25 acres of land and about a mile of wonderful trails to explore, this is a great spot to head out into nature. Plenty of wildlife to listen to, find or discover on these trails.  There are large rocks to climb up and around and plenty of different bugs and creatures to see. The hike has several small bridges, and when there is enough water there are streams running under them. We found an area with lots of little rocks sticking out of the ground, a great area for the kids to walk on and work on balance. This hike is also great for bird watching as there are a wide variety of birds to watch and listen to. This hike is mostly shaded and remember to bring your bugs spray and do a tick check when done.

You can enter these trails from either the Lexington side or the Arlington side. If heading in from the Arlington side, go to either Lublin Street or Rublee Street for neighborhood access. If heading in from Lexington go to either Sutherland Road or Tarbell Avenue.

Close to the Hibbert Street Playground so for a nice morning or afternoon you can plan a visit with your little ones. Or head on over to Wilson farm before or after Sutherland Woods for some treats to enjoy and farm animals to visit.

The Head of Accounting and Boston Ambassador, Jenny has been living in Boston for almost 10 years. Before Boston, she lived in Washington, DC for 8 years, and previous to that grew up on Long Island, NY. Along the way, she spent a few months in Amsterdam with her family biking all around and exploring that beautiful city! Jenny has always enjoyed being active - from organized sports to jogging, and of course, being in the garden as much as possible when the weather is cooperative. She tries to include her children in all of her active hobbies. With two toddler boys, ages 3 and 5, she and her husband spend their time discovering new places and things to do in the New England area. Spending time outdoors in all types of weather and encouraging her children to love all seasons is very important to her - and so is helping and encouraging others to do the same. Jenny and her family love spending time at the beach, traveling, taking walks and hikes, and of course, finding new playgrounds!
