Toby's Homemade Ice Cream and Coffee

Toby's Homemade Ice cream and Coffee is located in the center of the Westover area in Arlington, Virginia, and is my favorite place to grab a sweet and a coffee with a friend. In addition to the name, Toby's sells hot chocolate and milkshakes made on the spot and one-dollar doughnuts at the register. They also have sorbet options for anyone who can't eat dairy. Toby's Homemade Ice Cream & Coffee was featured in The Best of Arlington Magazine, where it won "the best ice cream shop" for 2015, 2017, and 2021. I love picking up a cone of coconut crunch in the summer or warming up inside the shop with a cup of hot chocolate in the winter. It's an excellent pit stop for kids after a day at the park or a special treat after school. It's also a great place to stop on an afternoon with friends anytime of the day.

There is a restroom in the back as well as parking in both the front and behind the shop. Toby's can be busy on weekday afternoons when students from Swanson Middle School stop by for an afterschool sweet. However, it is normally calm on the weekends. So, if you have impatient and hungry little ones, plan your trip accordingly! The prices range from $3 for a small ice cream to $7 for a milkshake or large ice cream.

If you are looking for an extra special treat for a birthday, Toby's also makes delicious ice cream cakes. Just be sure to give the shop a call at least three days before the big day for orders!
