Climb ricks, explore tide pools, walk the beach, or just relax with the kids and enjoy the beach views at Wingaersheek!

Tucked into a Gloucester neighborhood sits Wingaersheek Beach. The beach is known for their tide pools and it does not disappoint. At low tide the beach extends out and exposes a ton of tide pools and rocks to climb up and around. There is a sandbar that you can walk well out into the ocean. The beach boasts plenty of light house views as well as that of beautiful houses. The beach during low tide is long and flat, perfect for flying a kite or playing ball games.

The walk to the beach is not far and the beach at low tide is big enough where it doesn't seem crowded even with a good number of people around. There is plenty of room to spread out and plenty of areas to sit. You can sit by the rocks and enjoy the tide pools or spread out in the soft sand. We like to explore the tide pools for all of the creatures (like snails and sand dollars!) that the exposed beach has to offer at low tide.  Lifeguards are on duty between Memorial Day through Labor Day.

While there is plenty of parking it does get busy during the warmer months. There are bathrooms and showers available during the day (9am to 6pm). The drive to the beach and the road are a little windy so make sure to drive slow.  The parking fee is $30 during the week and $35 on the weekend and the lot will fill up quickly in the warmer months so be prepared to get there early.

The Head of Accounting and Boston Ambassador, Jenny has been living in Boston for almost 10 years. Before Boston, she lived in Washington, DC for 8 years, and previous to that grew up on Long Island, NY. Along the way, she spent a few months in Amsterdam with her family biking all around and exploring that beautiful city! Jenny has always enjoyed being active - from organized sports to jogging, and of course, being in the garden as much as possible when the weather is cooperative. She tries to include her children in all of her active hobbies. With two toddler boys, ages 3 and 5, she and her husband spend their time discovering new places and things to do in the New England area. Spending time outdoors in all types of weather and encouraging her children to love all seasons is very important to her - and so is helping and encouraging others to do the same. Jenny and her family love spending time at the beach, traveling, taking walks and hikes, and of course, finding new playgrounds!
